Exton Local History and Parish Records

An engraving of old Exton

In this section of the website you can find out about the history of Exton and the surrounding area. It also contains details from Parish records of births marriages and deaths dating back to the 16th century and plans of both the Parish Church graveyard and the Catholic graveyard showing where graves are located. This information was collected by a group of villagers interested in local history.

The original documents have now been placed in Leicestershire and Rutland Public Records Office. Historians and genealogists requiring further information should contact them rather than the webmaster or the Parish Clerk. You can search Leicestershire Public Records Office website by following this link http://record-office-catalogue.leics.gov.uk/CalmView/. It also contains a number of other items with links to Exton.

A very detailed history of Exton can also be found on the British History website at http://www.british-history.ac.uk/vch/rutland/vol2/pp127-134.
