Update from Parish Clerk

Just one or two more points to bring to your attention; the non essential shops will open from Monday 15th June and no doubt many of you will be pleased to hear this. Taking advantage of this will however be different with a number of measures in place temporarily to ensure a safe environment for all. Social distancing is of course required and each premises will have their own particular approach to ensure the safety of all. You should according to the guidelines only visit shops with people who live with you.https://www.rutland.gov.uk/my-council/council-news/rutland-prepares-to-welcome-shoppers-back-to-the-high-street/You can check this out on the website above. Plans are in hand for a temporary one way system around Oakham ro allow for wider footpaths and of course as I advised previously parking is still free. Please remember masks are required if you use public transport from Monday 15th June.An innovative scheme is being launched by RCC encouraging residents to sign up for using sustainable electric bikes. The bikes will be available for hire with a training scheme for adults and young people over the age of 16. More information on this from 01572 758138 or email transport@rutland.gov.uk.I do hope you have all noticed the great work of Andrew Hunter, Derek Palmer, clearing the greenery surrounding the War Memorial Garden, Lorraine Cash has tended the lovely roses, and David and Peter Healey took away all the rubbish. A huge thanks to everybody involved. There is some more work to do with the overhanging tree branches but this will be discussed at the next Parish Council meeting. Andrew is set to repaint the railings now they are truly visible. The Spinney too is looking great thanks to David Healey's efforts; two benches have been donated by residents which when things are back to normal will, subject to planning permission, be added. If you can pass this information on to anyone not on email it would be appreciated.Annette, Clerk
